The School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an energetic and visionary leader for the position of Full Professor and Head of the Institute for Software Research. ISR, one of seven academic units in the School, is the world’s premier academic department with an integrated focus on software, systems, and society.  This department is known internationally for its outstanding research and educational programs in software engineering, privacy and security engineering, and societal computing. The successful candidate will be charged with ensuring that the Department maintains national and international leadership in these rapidly growing fields. He or she will further shape and strengthen the Department by leading efforts to recruit new faculty at both senior and junior levels, expand research and educational programs, and develop new fundraising partnerships and initiatives.
